On Tuesday, May 6, Gwen Keeven, the Notre Dame 2025 St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete, was recognized at Busch Stadium before the Cardinals baseball game along with all of the Scholar Athletes from the St. Louis Metropolitan area high schools.
Gwen has excelled as a four-year varsity athlete in volleyball, basketball and lacrosse, while maintaining a 4.26 grade point average. She’s been Summa Cum Laude each semester, a member of the National Honor Society and an Illinois State Scholar. Gwen has also served as a Student Ambassador, a House and Kairos leader and she’s been involved with multiple clubs and organizations.
As an athlete, Gwen was named a team MVP in volleyball and lacrosse and was twice selected as the Defensive Player of the Year in basketball. She’s earned several all-conference honors and was picked as the AAA Small School Division Player of the Year in volleyball as a junior. She recorded over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her volleyball career, which included playing club volleyball since 2018. Aside from the statistical numbers, Gwen displayed exemplary leadership and was a dedicated teammate.
Next fall Gwen will attend Marquette University and study Physical Therapy.
