Director of Advancement

 Job Description

The Director of Advancement is responsible along with the President for advancing the mission of the school. The Director of Advancement must manage and lead all members of the Advancement Team and is responsible for maintaining ongoing development in the non-revenue and revenue components of Advancement.

The Director of Advancement is responsible to lead the following advancement team members

  1. Director of Admissions

  2. Director of Marketing & Communications

  3. Director of Special Events

  4. Director of Alumnae

  5. Admissions Associate

The Director of Advancement should have a degree in business, must possess dynamic and exceptional management skills, should be rooted in Catholic education, and ideally has worked within a catholic School setting. In addition to his or her management and leadership responsibilities the Director of Advancement has the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the Board of Directors to provide ongoing reports and vision relative to the non-revenue and revenue components of Advancement. Reports should be detailed oriented and should include a narrative of each of the non-revenue and revenue components as well as any pertinent financial figure.

  • Serve as a major gift officer to cultivate and solicit targeted gifts of $5,000 and above. The Administration develops a list of major gift needs, and the Director cultivates and solicits the gifts.

  • Dedicate at least half of his or her time to the top 100 donor list in ongoing cultivation

  • Meet with individual team members regularly in addition to serving as the person with secondary responsibility to each of their areas of focus. In the event that any non-revenue or revenue area is not delegated to any advancement team member, The Director of Advancement becomes the team member primarily responsible for this area.

  • Lead weekly/Bi-weekly meetings

  • Draft all written solicitations to articulate the mission and provide a clear vision for the school.

  • Solicit top donors personally for gifts both annually, for a major gift, and as a component of any campaign.

  • Produce budgetary numbers for the President in budget planning for the next fiscal year, as well as managing the advancement budget annually.

  • Manages all marketing material, content, and messaging.

  • Works with the President in long range strategic planning relative to advancement and facilities, as well as in campaign planning

  • Serve as the liaison between the advancement, administration, faculty, staff, board, and outside constituents.

The Director of Advancement must possess excellent organizational skills, great vision, and management skills. The Director must mentor and develop ongoing professional growth of all team members. The Director of Advancement reports directly to the President.
